Williamsburg Notebook: City Seeks Input on Economic Development, Capital Improvements

wmsbrgnotebook2The city of Williamsburg is seeking resident’s input on a variety of topics this month. The Economic Development Authority invites residents to share ideas on a variety of economic topics, while the Planning Commission is looking for ideas to be included in the next five-year capital improvements plan. Read on to learn how to share your ideas.

Share Input with EDA

The Williamsburg Economic Development Authority is seeking input before updating the city’s Economic Development Plan.

Citizens are asked to review a list of topic areas and contact the specified EDA member for each topic area here.

Sample topics include downtown vibrancy, redevelopment opportunities, economic diversification strategies and tourism marketing. Share input by Jan. 27 by contacting the designated EDA member for each topic.

Jeanne Zeidler to Speak at Neighborhood Council

Jeanne Zeidler, president and CEO of Williamsburg Community Health Foundation, will speak at the Neighborhood Council of Williamsburg (NCW) on Saturday.

The council meeting begins at 8 a.m. at the Quarterpath Recreation Center. The meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Meeting attendees will be asked to share what changes they would like to see in the NCW. For more information, contact Jim Joseph at 565-1549.

RSVP Today for EDA Roundtable

The Williamsburg Economic Development Authority will host its next business roundtable lunch on Jan. 10, but attendees must RSVP by the end of today.

Roy Pearson, chancellor professor of business emeritus at the College of William and Mary, will talk about the economic outlook for 2012.

The lunch will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the Gloucester Room in the Williamsburg Hospitality House. RSVP to businessroundtable@williamsburgva.gov with your name, business name and entrée selection (#1 for chicken or #2 for vegetarian). The meal costs $15, including tax and gratuity, and must be paid unless you cancel within 24 hours of the meeting date.

Planning Commission to Host Public Hearing on Capital Improvements

The Williamsburg Planning Commission will host a public hearing to gather citizen input for the 2013-2017 Capital Improvement Program. Citizens are encouraged to present items for inclusion in the Capital Improvement Program.

The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in the council chambers of the Stryker Building.
