York Notebook: Energy Efficiency Grants For Homeowners, Library Book SaleThursday, April 07, 2011
Through a partnership with the Green Jobs Alliance, York County’s Economic Development Authority is offering grants to homeowners who want to make their houses more energy efficient. These Better Buildings Grants, provided by the US Department of Energy and administered by the Green Jobs Alliance, can be used for “green” home improvements if they reduce the structure’s energy consumption by a certain amount. To qualify for the funding, the work must be done by a contractor who is enrolled in the Better Buildings Grant NEXT STEP Program. To help York County contractors become eligible, the county will host a free enrollment workshop for all interested contractors on April 14 from noon to 2 p.m. in the county’s Environmental and Development Services building at 105 Service Drive in Yorktown. At this workshop, contractors will learn about training opportunities and incentives offered by the program. Leslie Holthoff with the Green Jobs Alliance will also be on-hand to answer questions. Lunch will be provided to attendees, courtesy of the York County Economic Development Authority. For more information, contact Leslie Holthoff at 757-251-9523, extension 4, or visit the Green Jobs Alliance website.
