The Senior Center of York will host their Annual Health and Safety Fair for seniors age 55 and over on Friday.

It will feature free health screenings that will include cholesterol, blood pressure, bone density, balance, hearing, vision, and a spine alignment analysis. Visitors will have a chance to learn more about the many local health and safety programs and view products that are available to assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment. More than 30 exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions.

There will be refreshments, door prizes, and you can play a game to win a free lunch. The fair takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Senior Center is located at 5314 George Washington Memorial Highway in Yorktown. Call the Senior Center at 898-3807 for more information.

Redistricting Public Hearing

The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at its April 19 meeting to receive comments from the public on two alternative plans for redrawing the county election district boundaries for the Board of Supervisors and the School Board.

Maps showing the proposed district and precinct boundaries and polling places under each alternative are available for public review and comment on the York County website. Copies of the maps may also be examined in the County Administration Office in the Administration Building on 224 Ballard Street. All citizen comments will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors.

For more information, visit the county’s redistricting link.

The playground at Kiln Creek Park will be closed from April 18 until April 25 for repairs and maintenance.
The playgrounds at the York County Sports Complex at 4311 George Washington Memorial Highway are available daily from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
