York Notebook: Chickens, Oysters, Mini-Golf and More

yorknotebook2The Board of Supervisors will vote this week on a controversial zoning change that the Planning Commission recommended they defer, there may be a new mini-golf park in store and the supervisors are looking for a resident to serve on the Historical Committee.

Board of Supervisors agenda
The Board of Supervisors meeting is at a different time this week: Wednesday at 6 p.m. at York Hall. Supervisors are expected to vote on zoning changes that have caused a stir in York County. The Planning Commission suggested the Board of Supervisors wait to vote on zoning changes that would affect agriculture and aquaculture in certain districts. They believed the changes were unnecessary until Senate Bill 1190 - which would limit localities ability to control agriculture and aquaculture – or a similar bill is passed in the General Assembly.

Planning Commission mini-golf recommendation
Aside from talking about chickens and oysters during their Nov. 9 meeting, the Planning Commission recommended the Board of Supervisors accept Ripley’s Believe It or Not's request to build a miniature golf course next to its museum on Richmond Road.

The course would be behind the Bank of America’s rear parking lot, along the railroad tracks. According to proposal, the attraction will have 18 holes, a ticket booth, a water wheel structure, two waterfalls and a water tower.
