A discussion tabled in September about a proposed no wake zone on Cabin Creek, an area with 16 waterfront properties off York Point Road, will be heard again Tuesday night. Supervisor Don Wiggins requested time to speak with residents, who were split on whether to regulate boaters who use the body of water in their backyards. Read about the debate by clicking here. The public will have a chance to comment on York County’s 2013 Budget at 7 p.m., before the other topics on the agenda are discussed. Read the agenda for Tuesday night's meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m. in York Hall, by clicking here. Defense against rape Registration for the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office program to help women defend themselves against rape is now available. The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women, according to a press release. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. The R.A.D. program is not a martial arts program. The courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors and provide each student with a reference manual, which outlines the entire program. All five classes must be attended if you register for the program. They will be held on Feb. 27 and 29, as well as March 5, 7 and 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. All classes will be held at the Yorktown Elementary School gym. Space is very limited and individuals will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Contact Deputy Reggie Simms by email at simms@yorkcounty.gov to sign up for the program or to find out more information. Register soon for 4H Camp Registration for those interested in the York County Junior 4-H Camp, held July 23 to 27 for boys and girls ages nine through 13, can be mailed to the county beginning Jan. 17.
