W&M Ticket Sales to NIT Brisk

NIT-2010William and Mary fans wanting to see the Tribe in the postseason for the first time in 27 years might fare better than originally expected in securing tickets to the College’s Tuesday night NIT matchup at North Carolina.

The College received an initial allotment of 100 tickets per NIT and NCAA rules, a mark that was quickly blown past by a lengthy wait list. However, as of 3 p.m. Monday, North Carolina had released an additional 300 tickets to the visiting Tribe due to slow ticket sales, according to Director of Ticket Operations Spencer Milne.

Want tickets?

If you don't have tickets but want them, be sure to call the UNC ticket office tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. The phone number is (919) 962-2296.

Those tickets will be divided up among a wait list, with priority given to members of the school’s Tribe Club supporters group. As of 11 a.m. Monday, that wait list stood at 150 names, and was expected to grow in the afternoon.

UNC also cut its ticket prices from $40 to $20 Monday afternoon, and could release more tickets to the College if sales do not pick up. The College has also reduced ticket prices to $20.

Milne indicated that selling tickets to the College’s fans would not be an issue.

“Due to the historic nature of the game, I think we could sell over 1,000,” Milne said, if the College were to receive as many as it needed.

North Carolina’s Carmichael Arena, which will host the game with the Dean Smith Center under repair, seats 7,000 fans.

Those on the College’s wait list will be informed if they will have the opportunity to purchase tickets after 5 p.m. today.

Students wishing to travel to the game can sign up for the Tribal Fever’s bus, which includes a ticket and transportation for $10. Two buses consisting of 70 students were already full as of Monday afternoon, with another 20 students on a wait list.
