Owens’ 22 Lifts Walsingham Boys over Norfolk Christian

Mitch Owens scored a game-high 22 points Wednesday night to lead Walsingham Academy’s boys basketball team to its eighth-straight victory, 65-53, over Norfolk Christian Academy on the road.

After leading 25-24 at the break, the Trojans (18-3) outscored the host Ambassadors 40-29 in the second half to stay perfect in Tidewater Conference play.

Brandon LaRose (13 points) and Braden Sutton (11 points) joined Owens in double figures.

Currently 5-0 in the TCIS, Walsingham has a game-and-half lead over second-place Norfolk Christian (3-1) and Cape Henry Collegiate (3-1), who they play on Monday in Virginia Beach. Both teams  are ranked in the top 10 of the VISAA Division I and Division II state polls.
