Game On: Williamsburg Christian Boys Hoops Ranked Number One State Poll; Walsingham, Hampton Roads Academy Crack Top 10

Off to an 11-4 start this season (4-1 in the Metro Conference), Williamsburg Christian Academy’s boys basketball team sits atop of the first Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state poll of the season that was released Monday afternoon.

The lady Eagles of WCA (11-2, 6-0 Metro Conference) also held their number one spot atop the girls’ Division III state poll for the third straight week. It’s the first time in school history WCA’s girls’ team has garnered a number one ranking in the state.

The Eagles’ boys team has a big non-conference showdown Tuesday night against Cape Henry (8-3) out of the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools (TCIS), currently ranked number four in the Division II state poll.

Also out of the TCIS and ranked in the top 10 of the Division II standings, Walsingham Academy (11-3) sits at number five, and HRA (10-3) shares the seventh spot with Atlantic Shores (10-8).

This is only the first poll of the season, so with conference play beginning this week for several conferences such as the TCIS, it’s likely things will shake up over the next couple weeks.
