Jamestown’s Sutton, St. Cyr Earn All-State Volleyball Honors

GameOnWill

Jamestown volleyballers Briana Sutton and Monique St. Cyr, who guided the Eagles to a runner-up finish in the AA state tournament, have been named to the Virginia High School Coaches Association all-state volleyball team that was announced over the weekend.

Sutton powered her way to Bay Rivers and Region I Player of the Year honors behind her 331 kills and 81 service aces. St. Cyr, who set a VHSL record with 1,104 assists, was an all-district and all-region performer as the Eagles’ setter.

New Kent hitter Karley Allen was also named to the second team, while Grafton senior setter Rachel Richards and Warhill freshman hitter Alex Koon earned honorable mentions.

Needless to say, expect the Bay Rivers to be as strong as ever again next season. Of the five players who earned state-wide recognition, none are seniors.
