Tabb, Grafton win big in Bay Rivers' action, WCA falls to Cape Henry.

Lafayette 82  Bruton 76 (OT)

Lafayette guard Colton St. Cyr scored 15 of his game-high 27 points during the fourth quarter and overtime to lift the Rams (9-4, 9-2 Bay Rivers) over the cross-town rivals. Bruton (10-2, 8-2 Bay Rivers) overcame several double-digit deficits but couldn’t overcome a dismal shooting night from the free-throw line. Read More

Tab 65  York 36

Tabb (9-6, 7-4) won their third straight Bay Rivers contest behind Daniel Schiele (16 points), Shaq Rodney (11 points) and Will Baggett (10 points) who led the Tigers in double figures. Rodney, Schiele and Joe Nelson were a force on the offensive glass early as Tabb jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. Brandon Harvell led York (2-11, 1-10 Bay Rivers) with 16 points, and Chase Gibson finished with 12.

Grafton 70  New Kent 53

Kevin Barnes connected on five three pointers to lead Grafton (11-2, 9-0 Bay Rivers), with a game-high 24 points as the Clippers remained unbeaten in district play. Blake Ream (17 points) and Elijah Moore (14 points) also had strong outings for Grafton, who now leads both Lafayette (9-2 BRD) and Bruton (8-2 BRD) by two games atop the Bay Rivers’ standings after the Rams beat the Panthers in overtime Wednesday night. Grafton visits Bruton on Friday before another crucial showdown with the surging Rams next Tuesday.

Cape Henry Collegiate 63  Williamsburg Christian Academy 51

Deron Powers scored 20 points and Jake Duncan chipped in with 16, but it wasn’t enough for WCA (12-5, 5-1 Metro Conference) as the Eagles couldn’t hold off Cape Henry’s fourth quarter rally. WCA was voted number one in the first VISAA Division III state poll that was released earlier this week. Cape Henry is ranked fourth in the Division II poll.

Smithfield 53  Jamestown 51

Poquoson 59  Warhill 43
