Bruton holds on to beat Warhill, Jamestown falls on the road at Poquoson, and more. Thursday’s Results
Grafton 62 Lafayette 32 STORY Bruton 33 Warhill 28 After leading 21-8 at the break, Bruton survived Warhill’s 15-point fourth quarter to move even with the Lions at 6-5 in the Bay Rivers District. Alexis Calloway led the Panthers with 8 points and Sharde Rice finished with 7. Melanie Heath (9 points) and Alexis Petrin (8 points) led the way for Warhill.
Poquoson 37 Jamestown 28 Katie Doggett’s 13-point, 11-rebound double-double boosted the host Islanders over Jamestown. Sydney Turner chipped in with 13 for Poquoson. Jaque Hecker led the Eagles with 9 points, and Courtnie Williams finished with 6. The Islanders overcame a 17-10 deficit by outscoring Jamestown 27-11 during the final two quarters.
Tabb 41 New Kent 30 Although New Kent kept it close, the Tigers never trailed as they improved to a district-best 12-1 on the season with the road victory. Miranda Macfarlane (16 points) and Brooke Mahan (10 points) led Tabb in double figures. Adrianne Goodlett scored 13 to lead the Trojans.
