Blake Ream (game-high 24 points) delivered a late game-winner from long range and Tyler McMillan turned in a 13-point, 14-rebound double-double as Grafton captured the school’s first-ever boys basketball district title.  FUL STORY

Cross-town rivals Lafayette and Jamestown high’s boys basketball squads met for the second and final time Wednesday night and as usual, it was a physical contest as Lafayette used a 32-point fourth quarter to run past the Eagles, 79-57. FULL STORY

Bruton 78  York 62

Brent Spencer (16 points), Kai Brown (15 points), Marcus Carter (12 points) and Leo Legaspi (10 points) all scored in double figures as Bruton got a much-needed victory after losing two straight. Quentin Martinez led York with 20 points and Brandon Harvell finished with 16.

Warhill 51  Smithfield 46

The Lions ended a brutal six-game skid by outscoring Smithfield 30-18 in the second half behind a 23-point 8-rebound night from Devonte Dedmond. The Packers’ Darren Major, the Bay Rivers leading scorer at roughly 20ppg, hit five three pointers and scored 23 points in the losing effort.

New Kent 69   Poquoson 61

Dre Washington (17 points) and Tanner Luck (13 points, 9 assists) led the way for New Kent who trailed by two at halftime but took control after a 21-9 advantage in the third quarter. Daniel Fisher scored a career-high 30 points to lead Poquoson.
