WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center kicked off the new year on Wednesday, Jan. 10, with the opening of its Annual High School Student Show, which runs through Feb. 16.
The show features the work of students from six area schools: Bruton, Jamestown, Lafayette, and Warhill High Schools; Walsingham Academy, and Williamsburg Christian Academy.
The artwork, which includes paintings, photographs, drawings, ceramics, and sculptures, was judged for cash awards by local artist and former art teacher Chrissy Williamson. She presented the awards at a special reception for the students and their guests on Thursday.
“The high school show is always an exciting community outreach event for the Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center and this year is no exception,” said Karen Schwartz, program chair. “We are proud to showcase the work of so many talented students in the area, and it’s always a challenge to choose the award winners. We commend and thank our judge, Chrissy Williamson, for making those hard choices and doing a great job.”
